Welcome to the EnergieTakt Karte

The EnergieTakt Karte analyzes public data about the European electricity grid and shows visualizations of GHG emission intensity and the origin of electricity in European countries.

Follow this short tour to learn about the features of the EnergieTakt Karte.

The Karte (Map)

The central element of the dashboard is the map of Europe. Here, the estimated GHG emission intensities and international electricity flows are displayed.

Regional overview

By clicking on one of the regions, you can select it, and get an insight into the temporal variation of the local GHG emission intensity there.

Electricity production

Below, the temporal variation of local electricity production is shown. Hover over the chart to view the legend and the numerical values.

Calendar

Here, you can switch between the last 3, 7, or 14 days. Or click on the date field to open the calendar and select historical dates, back to 2016.

Display mode

Additional display modes are available through the mode selection. You can choose whether international electricity flows are taken into account (= consumption-based) or not (= production-based).

Flow tracing

Furthermore, the flow tracing display mode offers you a visualization of the proportional origin of the electricity consumed in the selected region.

Flow tracing scheme

Besides the display mode, you can also choose the flow tracing scheme. The schemes differ in how local electricity generation and international electricity flows are taken into account in the calculation. More on this can be found in our blog entry Methodology.
